Mudhoney - Touch Me I'm Sick (1988)

After the heady days of punk, when every 45 released seemed to be the most important thing in my life, there have since been only a handful of singles that have stopped me in my tracks and made me play over and over, trying to wring every note of musical information out of the tiny shaped piece of vinyl.

This is one of them.

'Sweet Young Thing...' is my favourite Sonic Youth song incidentally, and it's Stephen O'Malley's favourite b side.

Totally underrated, in regard to the canon of "grunge" bands. My personal favorite jam is 'Burn It Clean', but this single is pretty crucial nonetheless. Few bands manage to bring the notion of rock 'n' roll up to speed, but Mudhoney are wholly capable of conveying it properly. Holy shit do I love this band.

We are like school only with an audience that actually pays attention...mostly.
